Dhule, June 12 (UNI) A truck loaded with chemicals overturned and caught fire on the Shirpur-Chopda Highway near Savargaon in Shirpur Taluka.
The incident caused a major commotion in the area. Long queues of vehicles formed on the highway following the accident. Both the driver and the conductor managed to jump out and save themselves. The Thalner police are investigating the matter further.
Preliminary reports suggest that while the chemical-laden truck was travelling from Chopda towards Shirpur, it went out of control and overturned on the roadside after being cut off by an unidentified vehicle, subsequently catching fire. The fire spread rapidly within minutes, reducing the truck to ashes. This sudden incident led to long traffic queues on the highway. The morning incident caused a significant stir in Savargaon.
The Thalner police are working to remove the wrecked truck and restore traffic flow. They are investigating the exact cause of the accident. However, the truck and its cargo have suffered damages amounting to lakhs of rupees.
